When subtracting decimals, follow these steps:

Step 1: Line up the decimal points

This makes sure you're adding the digits in the right place value.

Step 2: Subtract each column from right to left

Start with the smallest place value (the rightmost digits) and subtract each column of digits: $7-2=5$

Step 3: Write down the difference for each place value

If a column doesn't need regrouping, simply subtract.  Make sure the decimal point in your final answer is lined up with the others.

So the final answer is 2.1245.
